In a bizarre collaboration that defies conventional predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Uncovered

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Additional Features

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Collaborations

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
